I currently teach 8:1:1 at P53K@562. I have taught at P53 since 1998.

8:1:1 Teacher

I have been with P53K in 2015. I had previously taught in a private school for 2 years. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son. I also enjoy doing yoga and practicing mindfulness.

6:1:1 Teacher

Hi, my name is Maria Castellanos. I have been with P53K since 2019! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Hunter College. When I am not in the classroom, I am traveling the world, reading novels, and trying new foods!

Hi, my name is Francesca Nedvin. I’ve been with P53K since 2020! When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time at the park with my dog, traveling to new places and skiing in Vermont.

12:1:1 Teacher

Hi, my name is Jamie Lanagan and I’ve been with 53K since 2018! When I’m not in the classroom you can catch me traveling with my wife, walking my dog, rescuing street cats, and trying new dessert places in Brooklyn.

Hi! My teaching career started in 2014 and I’ve been with P53K since 2018. In my free time, you might catch me at a basketball game or hanging out with friends and family.

8:1:1 Teacher

I started my teaching career with P53K in 1996. During my time off I like to travel and catch up with family and friends. “A little progress each day adds up to big results”.

Speech Therapist

Hi! My name is Alex (Alexandra). This is my first year with P53K! I received my Masters in Speech Pathology from Molloy College in 2016. I previously worked with the Pre-K and lower elementary population. I love the beach, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my friends and family.

Occupational Therapist

Hi, I have been with P53K since 2021. I received my master’s of occupational therapy from NYU in 2015. In my spare time, I play video games, cook new foods, and travel the world.

Adapted P.E. Teacher

Hi! This is my first year teaching, as well as my first year at P53K. I graduated this past May 2022 from SUNY Cortland with a degree in Adapted Physical Education. I have been loving exploring the city, trying new restaurants, soul cycle classes and making new friends!

Speech Therapist

I've been working as a speech therapist with P53K since 2012. Prior to that, I worked as an SLP in a long-term care facility for several years. I love learning from our students and helping them find ways to communicate. Outside of work, I love walking around the city, listening to music, and spending time with my cat, Louis.

Special Educational Liaison

Hi! I began my career at P53K as a Special Education Teacher in 2018. Since 2021, I have been a Special Educational Liaison. Outside of work I love to go hiking, going to see a Broadway Show and traveling to new places. But what I love most of all is desserts!
